CFL Betting

How CFL betting works for Canadian players: three downs, the 110-yard field and the rouge, the main markets, what moves a line, and how the Grey Cup fits in.

CFL Betting in Canada

CFL betting covers the Canadian Football League’s nine teams across an 18-game regular season and a playoff run that ends with the Grey Cup. The bet types are the same ones you will see in any football market: point spreads, moneylines, totals and futures. What differs is the game underneath them, and that is where CFL lines most often get misread.

How Canadian Football Differs

The CFL plays on a 110-yard field that is 65 yards wide, with 20-yard end zones, and each side fields 12 players. Teams get three downs, not four, to gain 10 yards. That pushes offences to throw earlier in a series and makes punting, field goals and second-down decisions matter more than they do south of the border.

The rouge adds a single point when a kicked ball is not returned out of the end zone. Final scores can therefore land on numbers the NFL rarely produces, and a game can be decided by one point. Both spread and totals bettors should keep that in mind.

Common CFL Markets

  • Point spread: bet on a team to win by more than the margin, or lose by less. See football point spreads for the mechanics.
  • Moneyline: bet on the winner with no margin involved. Favourites pay less, underdogs pay more.
  • Total: bet on whether the combined score finishes over or under a set number.
  • Futures: bet on outcomes decided later, such as the Grey Cup winner or a division winner.
  • Props: bets on a player or a single event, when the sportsbook lists them. Availability varies.

Which of these are open for a given game is shown by Rexbet itself, and this guide cannot confirm it.

What Moves a CFL Line

Quarterback news does the most. A change at the position can shift a spread by several points. Many CFL games are played outdoors, so wind and cold late in the season can pull a total down. Roster rules that require a minimum number of Canadian starters also mean depth matters, because an injury at one of those spots is harder to replace. Travel across time zones, for example from British Columbia to Montreal, is another input bettors weigh.

Reading a CFL Price

Spreads and totals are usually priced near even money on both sides, often around -110 as an illustration. At -110 you risk 110 to win 100, which implies roughly 52.4% for each side. Both sides together add up to more than 100%, and the difference is the sportsbook’s margin. The article CFL betting guide for Canadians walks through a full example.

The Grey Cup

The Grey Cup is the CFL’s championship game, played late in the season, and futures on it can be open long before kickoff. A futures bet ties up your stake until the final, so size it with that in mind. Our Grey Cup and Super Bowl futures article explains how those prices work.

Bet Within Limits

Rexbet is an offshore operator, and provincial player protections do not apply in the same way. You must be 19 or older, or 18 or older in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec. Set a deposit limit before the game starts. If you also follow the American league, compare it with NFL betting, and see responsible gambling for Canadian support lines.
